Jan 12, 2021 12:00AM ● By City of Martinez Press ReleaseMARTINEZ, CA (MPG) - Following the successful removal of 8 hazardous trees in the downtown area in early December, the City’s Public Works crews will be removing two additional hazardous trees the week of January 11th. The tree removal schedule is as follows:
Thursday, January 14th: Two (2) tree removals on the east side of the 700 block of Ferry Street near 729 and 739 Ferry Street (outside Might Market and Faded Gold Vintage). Partial street closure with one-way traffic anticipated from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
During these dates and times, please avoid this area as much as possible. The tree removals are part of a phased approach to tree management in the downtown area, which will involve priority removal of hazardous trees and subsequent replanting with new varieties of recommended replacement tree stock as tree selections are finalized. Future planned tree removals and tree replantings will be announced in advance as they are determined and scheduled.
As a reminder, the City has created a comprehensive released a Downtown Street Tree Program webpage with information about the program’s progress, including the recent Community Downtown Tree Survey Results and an Interactive Map which shows plans for the initial replanting phase.
